The Kwara State Police Command has successfully intercepted a shipment of 100 live AK-47 rounds and arrested four suspected arms suppliers along the Gbugbu–Patigi Road in Edu Local Government Area.

During a Friday press briefing, Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi revealed that the suspects — Owolaramfe Rafiu, Musa Mohammed (20), Adam Alhaji Lawal (18), and Musa Shaibu (45) — were apprehended during a routine stop-and-search of a Toyota Corolla (registration number EP 434 ABC). Officers discovered the ammunition hidden among personal luggage, alongside charms believed to be used to shield perpetrators during illegal activities.

According to preliminary interrogation, Musa Mohammed admitted the ammunition was picked up in Nasarawa State and was meant for an unknown contact in Gbugbu, highlighting concerns about interstate arms trafficking. The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

In a related development, the police also arrested Aliu Abubakar, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate, on December 3 at Oro-Ago Motor Park. Investigators recovered images of him with an AK-47 rifle and photos of alleged accomplices displaying firearms and large sums of money, reportedly proceeds from multiple kidnappings.

CP Adekimi assured residents that the police are committed to dismantling criminal networks across Kwara State and urged the public to continue providing credible information to support security operations.
